FOR ENGLAND AND ST
GEORGE
Branch Outing
23rd April 2012
It was a cold wet day, for the Branch tour, but this did not detract away from a good number of members coming along, and some varied well struck ringing. We were joined at the first 2 towers by a cameraman from Points West. St Barnabas Warmley (8),was our first tower, then onto St James the Great Abson (6), for coffee, this was followed by lunch at Fleur de Lys Pucklechurch, which I was told me was good, shamed I missed it, as I was trapped in my van!!
The afternoon began with a visit to St Peter Dyrham (6), then onto St Anne Syston (6), for drinks and an iced cake, with a St Georges flag. Then onto St James the Less Iron Acton (6) and St Peter Frampton Cotterell (6), where we were joined by Ali Vowles and her Points West crew. The tour was featured on both the lunchtime and early evening news, with Linda being interviewed. We also got a mention on BBC Radio Bristol
Thanks to Linda, Mary, Monica, Shelia and Sue for providing the refreshments and to Ade Gittings for making a photographic record of the tour, which I`m sure will be on the website before this article is printed. My personal thanks to everyone involved in the outing, for their support and co-operation, with the filming, and to my Knight in shining armour, Steve from Hydralift, who rescued me from the van!
